Grab your spoons and your appetite, and get ready for one of the tastiest contests on Hatteras Island. The annual Chicamacomico Banks Fire / Rescue Chili Cook-off is being held on Saturday, September 19th, all day long at the Cape Hatteras KOA on the Rodanthe Oceanfront.

Sea captains extend an invitation to all sailors and landlubbers to join them at the 3rd annual Day at the Docks on September 19, 2009.  Festivities will begin on the Hatteras village waterfront at 10:00 a.m. and run until 5:00 p.m., followed by a work boat parade and the annual Blessing of the Fleet.  

One of the great things about fall on Hatteras Island is the fishing, and this is exactly why so many fishing tournaments pop up in the September, October and November months for anglers of all ages and skill levels.

As a very special experience for the visiting public and local communities, the National Park Service will be offering Full Moon Tours of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse the evening of September 4, 2009.

Linda Meyer Browning, award-winning watercolorist, photographer, and painting instructor, will be conducting a watercolor workshop for adults on Saturday, Sept. 12, and again on Monday, Sept. 14.
“Watercolor for Beginners” will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be held at Linda’s studio in Frisco on Hatteras Island.
