Need a break from cooking? Try a private chef.
The Inn at Pamlico Sound, home of Hatteras Island’s exclusive four star fine dining restaurant in Frisco, has launched a private chef and catering service for 2008. Beginning as a pilot project in May 2008, Steve Nelson, owner of the Inn and restaurant, has received nothing but positive reviews and plans to continue these services for the 2009 season.
The concept for both the private chef service and catering service is simple. “We do it backwards,” says Steve. “Most catering companies provide a menu and prices. There are no canned menus here.”
Instead, Steve and his staff talk to the clients to find out their favorite foods, their desired atmosphere, and their budget, and use this information as building blocks for an exquisite, personalized menu.
“With wedding and special events, we ask ‘What is your vision? What are your favorite foods? What are your mother-in-law’s favorite foods?’ and we build the menu from there,” says Steve.
For rental guests, it can be tricky to secure a reservation for 15 or 20 people at a local Hatteras Island restaurant, so Steve offers executive private chef services to bring the fine cuisine home.
Once the menu has been selected, an executive chef comes to the home and prepares a multi-course, five star meal. Perhaps best of all, the staff handles all the work – including cleaning up. This is an indulgent means of taking a true vacation, away from the kitchen, while enjoying the fine dining experience from the comfort of a rental home.
Reservations for the restaurant, the catering service, and private chef services are strongly recommended. The services are available all year round, so even fall and winter visitors can indulge in the gourmet fare.
