Following a mid-morning Support Group meeting, Dare County Emergency Management has announced that cell phone service for Hatteras Island is currently limited. Callers are asked, if possible, to dial 9-1-1 from a land line phone to report emergencies.
CenturyLink, the provider of cell service on Hatteras Island, has located the source of the problem and is working to restore service as soon as possible.
Emergency Management also reports that preparations are being made to establish emergency ferry service between Stumpy Point and Rodanthe beginning Tuesday. Additional details will follow when available.
The next scheduled update will be available at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, October 29.
The Dare County Emergency Operations Center will be operating throughout the storm and may be reached at 252-475-5655.
