“Fee Free” Holiday Weekend at Wright Brothers National Memorial

Wright Brothers National Memorial will be joining other national park sites across the country in celebrating the up-coming Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday by waiving admission fees January 15-17, 2011.

Recently Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced that the National Park Service will waive admission fees on seventeen selected dates through-out 2011. Fee free days will also be offered during National Park Week (April 16-24), the first day of summer (June 21), National Public Lands Day (September 24), and the weekend of Veterans Day (November 11-13). Additional information can be found on line at http://www.nps.gov.

“Our national park system continues to provide opportunities for affordable family vacations close to home,” said Superintendent Mike Murray. “National parks are places for everyone to recreate, reconnect with nature, build a sense of ownership and stewardship toward parks and the environment, and to learn more about our great country.”

The staff of Wright Brothers National Memorial, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and Cape Hatteras National Seashore encourages everyone to visit one of our national treasures this year. Enjoy exploring the nation’s site of first powered flight, the site of the first English settlement or our nation’s first national seashore.

Entrance fees are not charged at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site or Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
