On Hatteras Island, kids can have their own fun, (and parents can enjoy an afternoon for themselves), at a number of kids camps and special events that are offered throughout the summer season. Kitty Hawk Kites Kid’s Day – Join Kitty Hawk Kites every week during the summer for a FREE Kid’s Day! Climb their rock wall, shoot water guns, get your face painted, and try out our newest toys and games. Hatteras: Tuesdays, 10am -12pm at the Hatteras Kitty Hawk Kites Store, Hatteras Landing -next to the ferry. Avon: Tuesdays, 4pm -6pm at the Avon Kitty Hawk Kites Store. Rodanthe: Wednesdays, 4pm -7pm at the Kitty Hawk Kites store at Waves Village.
REAL Kids Camp: REAL Waterpsorts offers a new for 2010 REAL Kids Camp program. Kids from ages 7 to 12 years old will learn the sports of kiteboarding, surfing and standup paddleboarding, while being schooled on the water safety topics of rip currents, wind strength/direction, surf conditions and more. If you’ve always wanted your child to have a strong knowledge and confidence level around the water, this is the program to enroll them in. Outer Banks Soccer School: Steven Smalley and Juan Ramirez, two local teachers in Dare County, offer an affordable and enjoyable soccer school for kids on the Outer Banks. With over 250 soccer campers in their second year, Coastal Soccer Camps are a great place for young soccer enthusiasts looking to improve their skills, work hard, make new friends, and have fun!
