The Dare County Tourism Board welcomes for the eighth year the North Carolina Symphony Summer Pops Concert to Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo on Friday, June 19, 2009. Once again, this event is free to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend. The performance is underwritten by the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau at a cost of $28,000 and Roanoke Island Festival Park donates the venue.
“This concert is about the North Carolina Symphony for everyone,” explains Carolyn E. McCormick, managing director of the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau. “Resident Conductor William Henry Curry and his orchestra leave their audience spellbound. We are fortunate to be able to share the North Carolina Symphony experience with our community and bring this outstanding symphonic orchestra to residents and visitors to Dare County’s Outer Banks. This special evening affords all people a rare chance to experience one of life’s great pleasures.”
The musical program for this year’s event is still being developed, but will feature a blend of contemporary pop-culture movie themes and historical classic works that satisfy audiences of all ages. Roanoke Island Festival Park and the town of Manteo partner with the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau to make this annual event an unforgettable evening in the open-air waterfront concert venue.
Bring a picnic basket and portable chairs or blankets to enjoy a fantastic program under the stars. The audio and visual enhancements at Roanoke Island Festival Park have raised the bar for visitor experience on the Outer Banks.
