OBX Events July 28-August 5

Activities and entertainment await you here on the OBX! There are many exciting events to keep you and your party entertained all week long! There is truly something for everyone! Be sure to check out our list for the week and mark your calendars!

SATURDAY, JULY 28

Fish Fry, Hatteras Village and Avon Village, 5-7pm.
~Does fried local fish, hushpuppies, cole slaw, and potato salad sound like the perfect Hatteras Island dinner? We think so! Head to the Hatteras Fire Station at 57689 Hwy 12 or the Avon Fire Station at 40159 Harbor Rd. for a delicious meal, hosted by the Ladies Auxilary.

YOGA on the beach, Beach Klub, Avon, 8-9:30am.
~Bring a yoga mat and get your day started off on the right track!

Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum Summer Programs, Hatteras.
~Monday-Friday, programs are offered by Friends of the Graveyard of the Atlantic for further exploration and discovery if our maritime heritage. For complete information and details, visit the Museum on the web.

Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Summer Programs, Rodanthe, 2pm.
~Monday-Friday at 2pm, join The Chicamacomico Historical Association for an afternoon of entertainment ranging from talks with local historians to dramatic demonstrations by the U.S. Coast Guard. Visit the Station’s website for program details.

Studio 12, Avon.
~Feeling creative? Studio 12 offers lots of fun classes, including mosaic stepping stones, glass fusion picture frames, suncatchers, and jewelry. Be sure to visit their website for class details.

Indian Town Gallery, Frisco.

MONDAY, JULY 30

~Enjoy free LIVE music with a spectacular view in a family/group friendly atmosphere.

TUESDAY, JULY 31

Hatteras Island Farmer’s Market, Avon, 9am-1pm.

REAL Watersports Kids Camp, Waves, Tues.-Thurs., 10am-4pm.
~Kids ages 7-12 will have a chance to learn how to have fun and be confident in the water! They will experience paddleboarding, kiteboarding, and surfing, with an emphasis on water safety. Cost is $595 per child, which includes lunch from Mojo’s Sunset Cafe. Click here to sign up!

Kitty Hawk Kites Kid’s Day, Avon 10am-12pm, Hatteras, 3-5pm.
~A fun-filled free opportunity to climb a rock wall, shoot water guns, have your face painted, and try out the latest toys and games!

Outer Banks Art Adventure-Under the Sea, SeaWorthy Gallery, Hatteras.
~Learn beading basics, including wire wrapping. Bring a special seashell or glass bead piece you’d like to incorporate. Ages 8-15, 10am-12pm, $25. Ages 16-adult, 1-3pm, $35. To register, call (252) 986-6510.

Hatteras Island Surf Film Festival, Kitty Hawk Kites Kiteboarding Resort, Waves, starting at 12pm.
~Live music by Grant Austin Taylor, Quincy Mumford, The Blind Prophets, The Kill Circuit, & SOULone, 12pm-8:30pm. Watch independent surf films and surf films shorts from 8:15-11pm. Don’t miss it!

Turtle Talk program, Pea Island Visitor Center, 2:30-3:30pm.

Avon Jamboree featuring Trent-Town Trio, PapaWack Theatre, Beach Klub, Avon, 6-8pm.
~FREE admission. Enjoy drinks at the oceanfront bar and grab a bite to eat at the concession stand.

Music on the Deck, Sandbar & Grille, Buxton, 7-11pm.

The Lost Colony, Waterside Theatre, Manteo, Tues.-Sat., 8:30pm.
~Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Paul Green recounts the historical events leading to the disappearance of the first English colonists who settled on Roanoke Island over 400 years ago. This is a production you don’t want to miss. Visit The Lost Colony for more info and tickets.

OBX Great Glow Run, Jockey’s Ridge State Park, Nags Head.br />
~Sprint, run, or walk through the tallest sand dunes on the East Coast. Enjoy the full moon with your family on this 1 mile run. Adults will receive a glow-in-the-dark t-shirt and children will receive a medal. Post race snacks, drinks, and other goodies will be available for your enjoyment!

Bluegrass Jam at Banjo Island/Red Drum Pottery, Frisco, 7pm.
~Enjoy local musicians at the “Wednesday Happening” OR bring your instrument and join them!

American Heroes Day, Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station, Rodanthe, 10am-3pm.
~See personnel, equipment and vehicles of area Coast Guard, law enforcement, firefighters, water rescue, EMS & more. Demos include Coast Guard Honor Guard & Color Guard, Coast Guard Search & Rescue helicopter and motor lifeboat demonstration, military flyer, jet ski ocean rescue demonstration, Beach Apparatus Drill. $5/person.
