Fish House Restaurant

There are many great places to eat on Hatteras Island, however there is one little gem tucked neatly along the Buxton Harbor that has a story to tell, with excellent eats and a great sunset to boot!

“The Fish House has had a long history here at Buxton Harbor. It was originally, as the name implies, a fish house. A place where commercial fishermen unloaded their catch to be packed and shipped. The floors were slanted (and still are today) to allow excess water to drain away from the fish boxes. After the fish house closed, the building became a restaurant, known to several generations of Hatteras Island locals and visitors for its fine, fresh seafood. Today, children who first ate at the restaurant with their parents decades ago are bringing their own children to enjoy both the seafood and the harbor.”
