On February 27th, 7:30 p.m., the Indoor Theater at Roanoke Island Festival Park will host the Outer Banks debut of the documentary film Rescue Men, The Story of the Pea Island Life Savers. The movie, which is produced and directed by Los Angeles based DreamQuest Productions, has been in the works for several years and tells the story of one particular brave Hatteras Island life saving crew. The Coast Guard and Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station have invited the public to attend a free, filmed performance of the Breeches Buoy Drill at the station scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec, 14th.
The drill, which is normally performed weekly from June through August, will be performed for the first time in December, so the production company Dream Quest can film it for an upcoming History Channel documentary entitled “Rescue Men.” Continue reading
