North Carolina Recognized as “Nation’s Most Military Friendly State”
New signs will be displayed at the state border on I-95, I-85 and Highway 17 promoting North Carolina as the “Nation’s most Military friendly state.”
These new state welcome signs proudly recognize that the armed forces play a key role in North Carolina’s economy. The state has more than 416,000 jobs directly or indirectly sustained by the defense industry and military installations, including Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune.
Officials with the N.C. Dept. of Transportation and the N.C. Bankers Association, which helped pay for the signs, plan to unveil the new signs at a news conference at the North Carolina National Guard headquarters in Raleigh on Oct. 26.
Keep an eye out for these welcome signs on your next North Carolina Outer Banks vacation!
