Just in time for Valentines' Day – Nights in Rodanthe is coming February 10

If you missed your opportunity to see the 2008 Richard Gere and Diane Lane movie Nights in Rodanthe in the theaters, or simply want to see the beautiful beach background again, then there’s good news coming your way. Nights in Rodanthe will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 10th.

Portions of the movie were filmed in Rodanthe in 2006, and residents and frequent visitors alike will recognize a number of local landmarks, including the Rodanthe Pier, and “Serendipity,” the most northern home on Hatteras Island and the setting of the fictional bed and breakfast where the movie takes place. Shrimp Creole Recipe

While on Hatteras Island be sure to pick up some local fresh shrimp from a nearby seafood store. There are a variety of ways that you can have shrimp and if you feel like dining in consider this shrimp creole recipe that will surely become a favorite for everyone in your party. This recipe originated in Louisiana but feel free to alter it to your taste. If you enjoy spicy meals you can add some Tobasco sauce to your liking. Continue reading

Surf or Sound Realty is Hatteras Island Food Pantry drop off location

Surf or Sound Realty is happy to announce that our Avon and Salvo offices will serve as drop-off locations for the Hatteras Island Food Pantry. From November through New Year’s, locals, visitors and homeowners can drop off non-perishable items, including food items, toiletries, pet food, and other every day necessities at either office location. These donations go to a very worthy cause: local families who are having trouble making ends meet. Continue reading
