Outdoor painting workshop set for May at SeaWorthy Gallery

SeaWorthy Gallery in Hatteras village will sponsor a three-day “Plein Air” outdoor painting workshop on May 19-21 from 9 until 4 p.m. each day. The workshop will focus on marshes, boats, beaches, cottages, and other coastal scenes. All media is welcome, but the demonstrations will be done in watercolor. Class size is limited, so the instructor can give personal attention to each student. A brief critique will conclude each painting day. Continue reading

National Park Service announces May Programs

During May, the National Park Service Outer Banks Group will be providing scheduled public programs for the pre-summer season at Wright Brothers National Memorial, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Save the date for annual spring dance

The ninth annual Spring Dance, sponsored by the Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation (HICF) will be on Saturday, March 21 at the Hatteras Village Civic Center. Tickets will be available in advance and all proceeds go to HICF to help support those in the community faced with the many challenges of cancer.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the dance ends at midnight. There will be a full buffet, beer, wine, soda, and the civic center will be decorated in style. Music this year will be by the 360 Degree Band. Continue reading
