Movie based on Pea Island “Rescue Men” Premieres

On February 27th, 7:30 p.m., the Indoor Theater at Roanoke Island Festival Park will host the Outer Banks debut of the documentary film Rescue Men, The Story of the Pea Island Life Savers. The movie, which is produced and directed by Los Angeles based DreamQuest Productions, has been in the works for several years and tells the story of one particular brave Hatteras Island life saving crew. Rodanthe Movie House "Serendipity" Sold and Saved

The beachfront house featured in the movie “Nights in Rodanthe” will soon have a new home itself, thanks to a bail bondsman who fell in love with the surf-threatened house after his wife bought the movie for him as a Christmas present last year. Continue reading

Just in time for Valentines' Day – Nights in Rodanthe is coming February 10

If you missed your opportunity to see the 2008 Richard Gere and Diane Lane movie Nights in Rodanthe in the theaters, or simply want to see the beautiful beach background again, then there’s good news coming your way. Nights in Rodanthe will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 10th.

Portions of the movie were filmed in Rodanthe in 2006, and residents and frequent visitors alike will recognize a number of local landmarks, including the Rodanthe Pier, and “Serendipity,” the most northern home on Hatteras Island and the setting of the fictional bed and breakfast where the movie takes place.
