Underwater Camera Found From Hatteras Island Vacation

Nine months ago, Zach Wilson was paddleboarding near Rodanthe on Hatteras Island and lost his GoPro camera. As fate would have it, a vacationer found the scratched case during a walk on the beach in Avon just last week. “I had no clue what it was. I just thought it came from a boat or something because of the suction device that was on the waterproof case,” Rick Spink, of Virginia Beach said.

The cover was protecting a damaged camera that held a photo card with nearly 1,000 pictures of a paddle-board rider. Spink sent one of the images to REAL Watersports. The Hatteras Island surf shop put the photo on its Facebook page.

A friend contacted Zach and told him to check REAL Water Sports Facebook page as he was 99 percent sure it was pictures of him on his stand-up paddle board. Zach Wilson identified his photo and contacted Spink. The camera is now in the mail and on its way to Zach in Canada.

You never know what treasure you will find on the beach during a Hatteras Island vacation!
