When given the opportunity to fill two beautiful full-color pages of Outer Banks This Week’s summer magazine – we knew right away what to do – feature our charming island to give people a glimpse into a day in the life of a Hatteras Island vacation.

But how could we possibly show the depth of character of the island and include all that there is to do on a vacation here in just a day? All we could do was try – and so we ventured out one beautiful June morning to do our best to capture one real life Hatteras Island vacation day from dawn until dusk. If you’ve been here, you might guess that we came back with more footage than we could ever fit in the space – and we barely scratched the surface as far as all you can do here!

Hatteras Island’s villages are full of real people and authentic places each with a unique and incredible story. Talk with someone long enough you’ll find that each story gives way to a dozen more. That’s the beauty of it – you can come down every year for 50 years and discover something new each time.

Two Surf or Sound Realty homes showcased in the 2009 Parade of Homes

The 17th Annual Outer Banks Parade of Homes kicked off on October 8th, and Surf or Sound Realty is delighted to announce that two of our premier rental homes are represented in this year’s tour: #683 Rising Sun and #684 Moonshine.

The Parade of Homes showcases the finest properties on the Outer Banks, and the Outer Banks Home Builders Association (OBHBA) is anticipating approximately 1,500 attendees. The event lasts until Sunday, October 11th, and all 29 homes participating, from Currituck to southern Hatteras Island, are open from 10am – 6pm on all four days. Continue reading

New vacation home ratings provide unbiased guest feedback

Many vacationers find it is helpful to see what previous guests thought about a home they are considering for rent, and with our new rating system, online browsers can review unbiased feedback on nearly 400 vacation homes.

If you are curious to see what previous guests thought about the home you are interested in, look no further than the property details page of that home on our website.
